HOW DO I APPLY AND NOMINATE A HOCKEY ASSOCIATION?
Visit the Nomination Page where you will need to submit a written story or a short video that demonstrates how the hockey association you want to nominate demonstrates at least one of the following 4 judging criteria:
REACH those in the community in need of financial assistance
INSPIRE youth to fall in love with the sport
SUPPORT youth to achieve their dreams through sport
ENCOURAGE diversity and inclusion in the community through hockey initiatives
HOW LONG SHOULD MY NOMINATION BE?
Written stories should be between 150-1000 characters in length (including spaces). Videos should not be more than 2 minutes long, or larger than 100MB.
Supported video formats include: avi, dv, mov, qt, mpg, mpg2, mpg4, 3gp, 3g2, asf
WHAT ARE THE JUDGING CRITERIA?
Story and video submissions will be evaluated and assigned points based on how the nominated hockey association demonstrates at least one of the following criteria:
REACH those in the community in need of financial assistance
INSPIRE youth to fall in love with the sport
SUPPORT youth to achieve their dreams through sport
ENCOURAGE diversity and inclusion in the community through hockey initiatives
WHO CAN NOMINATE A HOCKEY ASSOCIATION?
Any individual who is the age of majority in their province/territory can submit a nomination. (This includes individuals who may be members of hockey associations.)
HOW MANY TIMES CAN I NOMINATE A HOCKEY ASSOCIATION?
An individual can only nominate a hockey association once. However, the same hockey association can have multiple approved nominations/submissions from different, unique individuals.
WHICH HOCKEY ASSOCIATIONS ARE ELIGIBLE TO BE NOMINATED?
In order to be eligible for nomination, hockey associations must:
- have an existing financial assistance program for hockey families
- provide sporting opportunities to at least 50 youth hockey players
- have certified coaching staff
- have a player safety program and/or policies
- have an abuse and harassment training and/or policies
WHAT IS THE DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS?
Nominations must be submitted by February 5, 2023.
The Second Assist is all about encouraging diversity and inclusion in communities across Canada through hockey. Kruger will be assisting communities by awarding an additional $50,000 to one of the 6 hockey associations selected for a Big Assist. A Kruger Second Assist application will be required, and application details will be shared with the 6 selected hockey associations upon notification of their selection. WHAT DOES A WINNING HOCKEY ASSOCIATION RECEIVE?
Hockey associations who are selected as winners will receive $25,000 to help families who need financial assistance with hockey enrollment fees and/or equipment.
